Starting in fiscal year 2026, this legislation restricts funding for state and local governments that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities. An exception is provided for jurisdictions that protect the immigration status of crime victims and witnesses.

The Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act rescinds unobligated funding previously appropriated to the Internal Revenue Service. This legislation effectively cancels these unused funds and returns them to the U.S. Treasury.
