Legislative Activity

The "Long Island Sound Restoration and Stewardship Reauthorization Act of 2025" reauthorizes key programs dedicated to the Long Island Sound's health. It extends the Long Island Sound grants program and the Long Island Sound Stewardship Act of 2006, continuing these initiatives from 2025 through 2029. The bill also makes a technical correction by redesignating a paragraph within the Federal Water Pollution Control Act.

The "Dairy Farm Resiliency Act" amends the Agricultural Act of 2014 to improve the Dairy Margin Coverage program. It updates the production history calculation for dairy farms and increases the coverage levels for Tier I and Tier II. These changes aim to provide better support and stability for dairy farmers.

The Making Agricultural Products Locally Essential (MAPLE) Act expands the Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program. It will now include maple syrup in addition to herbs. This change aims to provide seniors with more options for locally sourced agricultural products.

The Election Day Act amends Title 5 of the United States Code to recognize "Election Day" as a federal holiday. This would add Election Day to the list of recognized holidays alongside Columbus Day.
