Legislative Activity

The BUILD Housing Act streamlines environmental reviews for certain HUD housing assistance programs by allowing the Secretary to designate them as "special projects." This change simplifies the process under the National Environmental Policy Act, unless another law already specifies the review procedure. Additionally, the bill explicitly allows federally recognized Tribes to assume environmental review responsibilities previously available only to state or local governments.

The Advanced Reactor Modernization for Operational Resilience Act of 2025 establishes a pilot program for the Army to deploy advanced nuclear micro-reactors or small modular reactors to power critical infrastructure by 2030. It also grants military departments the authority to enter into long-term, 50-year contracts for energy generated by advanced nuclear reactors. Furthermore, the bill expands the technology focus of the Office of Strategic Capital to explicitly include nuclear energy and technologies.

The TALENTS Act establishes and administers the Presidential Management Fellows Program to recruit high-potential individuals into federal leadership roles. The bill sets forth detailed definitions, outlines annual selection and appointment procedures, and mandates rigorous development, training, and mentorship for Fellows. Furthermore, it establishes rules for Fellows' movement between agencies, conversion to permanent positions, and the creation of Federal Executive Boards to support local government coordination.

This resolution supports the recognition of Korean American Day on January 13th of each year. It acknowledges the wide-ranging positive impact of Korean Americans on the United States. The resolution also commemorates the anniversary of the arrival of the first large wave of Korean immigrants to the U.S.
