Legislative Activity

This Act authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury to mint and sell special commemorative coins for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games and the 2034 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The coins will feature designs celebrating American athletes and the Games themselves. All surcharges collected from the sale of these coins will be directed to the respective organizing committees to help fund the events and related youth sports programs. The entire program must be conducted at no cost to the U.S. Government.

The Safeguarding Americans From Extremist Risk (SAFER) at the Border Act aims to enhance national security by establishing clear definitions for "known terrorist," "special interest alien," and "suspected terrorist." This legislation significantly restricts the Secretary of Homeland Security's authority to use parole for individuals arriving at the border. Specifically, it prohibits parole for anyone identified as a terrorist, a national security risk, or inadmissible due to terrorism-related activities.

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians Parity Act officially confirms the tribe's status under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, treating them as if they were under federal jurisdiction since that date. This legislation also validates and confirms all land previously taken into trust by the Secretary of the Interior for the benefit of the tribe. The Revitalizing Investment, Savings, and Entrepreneurship (RISE) Act aims to encourage investment by capping the federal tax rate on a specific portion of adjusted net capital gains at 15 percent. The Carla Walker Act establishes federal grants to improve forensic activities, specifically by funding the adoption of advanced whole genome sequencing and forensic genetic genealogy technology in public crime labs. These grants aim to help law enforcement generate investigative leads in unsolved cases or identify unknown human remains when standard DNA databases yield no results. The Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act mandates that group health plans and insurance policies provide comprehensive coverage for medically necessary treatment related to congenital anomalies or birth defects affecting the eyes, ears, teeth, mouth, or jaw. This coverage must include services needed to restore normal function and appearance, including necessary dental and orthodontic support. Plans must apply cost-sharing rules no more restrictive than those for other medical benefits, excluding purely cosmetic procedures.

The Farm Workforce Modernization Act of 2025 aims to stabilize the agricultural labor force by creating a pathway to legal status for current undocumented farmworkers and modernizing the H-2A temporary worker program.
