The Critical Materials Processing Technology Testbed Act aims to change that by creating a dedicated sandbox—a 'Testbed'—within the Department of Energy to figure out how to process these materials faster, cleaner, and cheaper. The bill authorizes an initial $150 million in 2027 to get the doors open, followed by $25 million every year through 2031 to keep the lights on.
